House of Waves
If you are wondering why you haven't heard from us a while it's probably because I am sitting on the back porch of La Casa De Olas, enjoying an obscenely serene view. After a week of nothing but surfing, eating, drinking, and being merry with good friends its hard to get back in the blogging mood.
After a furious pace to meet up with Matt & Margaret in Ixtapa, we've done nothing but live the good life. Our house is in Saladita, a small village that serves as a revolving door for gringos looking for an organic transition to the surfing alter-ego they wish they had spent more time with. Basically it's one happy family and we are the distant relatives that made themselves right at home.
Besides the great waves, Saladita is a refreshingly guilt-free example of how the tourism business can be operated in a way that actually benefits the local community. As opposed to the countless FUNATUR resorts, (aka the Mexican government's version of progress) the money gringos bring in stays local. There are no obnoxious resorts with overpriced worthless trinkets. Instead, there is just the amazing toothless lady who we buy 4 insanely fresh chickens from, which she uses to....well, probably buy more delicious chickens. Without boring you with seemingly irrelevant Mexican politics, all I have to say is... the less time you spend in mega-resorts in Mexico, the more you improve the quality of life of Mexicans.
Aside from my political rantings the standout of the trip have been the amazing way in which Rachel and I were welcomed by the great people here. We had the comfort of surfing with our old friends Marge and Matt; but also got to meet the raddest family of triplets out there. Shake and bake to Paulina, Mike, Emma and the 2 Chris'.
Now that most of the crew has left it feels very strange to be left on our own again. After over 7 months on the road it makes me realize that there is nothing more enjoyable that sharing time with friends and family. Tomorrow we will become loners again, if only for a few more months.

It's nice to see you've encountered a live cow. The dead ones rotting in the sun made me sad. I like the hammock too!
Love Lindsey
Oh good, you're back on the radar screen again. We were wondering where we would find you next.
Life is good when you're swinging in a hammock and watching waves with friends!
Love you, miss you,
Mom
Don't be too lonely loners. JR and I will soon be there to comfort you.
